Ingredients

Burger

  • Fruitless hot cross buns (or regular hot cross buns for a sweeter version)

  • Burger patties

  • Cheddar cheese slices

  • Lettuce leaves

  • Tomato, sliced

Kimchi Mayo

Method

1. Make the kimchi mayo

In a small bowl, mix together chopped kimchi, tomato sauce, and Umei Gochugaru Mayo. Set aside.

2. Cook the smashed burger patties

  • Cook burger patties according to packet instructions

  • To create a smashed burger, place baking paper over the patty and press down firmly using a spatula or cast iron skillet until thin

  • Flip and cook the other side

  • Reduce heat to low, place a slice of cheddar on top, and allow it to melt

3. Assemble the burger

  • Slice the hot cross buns in half

  • Layer with lettuce, smashed burger patty, tomato, and a generous spoon of kimchi mayo

  • Top with the other half of the bun

To serve

Serve immediately while warm with chips or a fresh salad on the side.
